The Saddle Bag was used as a means of transporting baggage & possessions. It was also important  for a girl to weave a variety of bags for her dowry, so as a result they are often extremely well woven & finely detailed. Today, old tribal bags are becoming hard to find,  but are keenly sought after as Collectors items.

The Bag Face is the front panel of a bag; the back side having been discarded at some stage. This panel is worked in knotted pile and originates from the Persian Herati tribe. About 60 years old.

Would make a lovely centre-piece for a table or dresser.
