The Saddle Bag was used as a means of transporting baggage & possessions. It was also important  for a girl to weave a variety of bags for her dowry, so as a result they are often extremely well woven & finely detailed. Today, old tribal bags are becoming hard to find,  but are keenly sought after as Collectors items.

The Bagface is the front side of a bag, usually worked in decorative knotted pile. The back side often has been discarded, so what is left is a beautiful small rug.This piece is a fine example of the Bhaktiari tribe from central Iran.
